First Post! Intro to My Madness

Okay... So I was inspired by the movie "Julie & Julia" to make a goal, set a deadline and blog about it. So here I am. I decided that my goal will be something that I have been dying to achieve for quite some time and that is losing weight. I want to lose weight because I want to fit in my clothes better and lower my cholesterol. I'm also going to add exercise because I want to have the energy, strength and flexibility back.

My goal is 30-40 lbs in 6 months! Not sure if I can reach 40 but if I make it past 30, I'll be a happy camper. My height is 5'5" and what I'm supposed to be weighing is 140 to 135 lbs. I'm going to start going to the gym 5 days out of the week, eat 1500 calories and burn 700 calories on the cardio machines. My personal trainer from before said if I burn 3500 calories a week, I lose a pound a week. So here's hoping!

I will be logging what I ate with calories I consumed, exercises I did with calories burned and anything else that comes my way. Example for today:

FOOD LOG:
  • Slim-fast shake - 200 cal
  • Sandwich (turkey, cheese, bread only) - 220 cal
  • Granola bar - 90 cal
  • 3 pita breads - 390 cal
  • Hummus (2 tbs) - 75 cal
  • Soda - 0 cal
  • Teriyaki chicken (1 serving and a half) - 175 cal
  • Brown rice (1 cup) - 150 cal
  • Potatoes (1 serving) - 190 cal
TOTAL CAL INTAKE: 1490 cal

EXERCISE:
  • Eliptical (33 mins) - 351 cal
  • Treadmill (45 min) - 323 cal
TOTAL CAL BURNED: 674 cal

So I guess I did pretty good for today. I might snack on some ice cream later. :P lol But I hope not! So I will continue this tomorrow. Wish me luck!

  1. Awesome! You can do it! =) PROUD OF YOU. Also, stay away from that late-night snacking on ice cream! It's pretty annoying to realize that you just undid a whole day's worth of hard work in ten minutes of mindless snacking. I believe in you!

  2. Good for you, girl! I'm here if you need support...I lost 30 lbs doing the same thing. Still need to lose about 10 more, so I know what you are going through. It will be hard at times, but just keep with it, and don't get discouraged if you fall off the horse for a day or two, just get right back on again. Much <3

  3. Oh, by the way, do you have an iPhone or iTouch? There's an app called Lose It! that makes all that calculation really easy, and it's a free app.
    I don't know if you have an iPhone, but if you do you should get the app to help you out :)

  4. Thanks chicas! ^^ And yes I've heard of it before actually from you Heather lol! I wish I had a smartphone period cuz the android ones have one like it. But maybe with the new job, I can save up on it :D I remember when you showed it to me I soooo wanted an iPhone just for that app! lol *HUGS*
